A 40-YEAR-OLD man from Murewa has been arrested in connection with the suspected ritual murder of a seven-year-old boy whose body was found without the head.
Tafadzwa Shamba is alleged to have connived with two other men, who are on the run, who reportedly promised him US$1 500 for beheading the boy.
National police spokesperson Paul Nyathi said they have since recovered blood-stained clothes which Shamba was allegedly wearing on the day of the crime.
“ZRP confirms that a suspect, Tafadzwa Shamba, has been arrested in connection with the murder of Tapiwa Makore, 7, for ritual purposes.
“The other two suspects are on the run and police are looking for them,” Nyathi said.
Claims are that Shamba and his accomplices grabbed the boy at his family’s garden and took him to a mountain where they held him hostage for the whole day.
It is alleged that they killed the boy at night and one of the suspects went away with the head while Shamba was left with the rest of the body.
The other suspect from Juru Growth Point had reportedly promised Shamba US$1 500 on his return.
The police said they were hunting for the other two suspects.
“No stone will be left unturned to account for the other suspects,” the police spokesman said.
