SOUTH Africa-based urban groover Nox Guni, pictured, has dedicated his new song Mapapiro to his late father — Never — admitting that life is no longer the same without him.
Speaking with the Daily News, Nox, talked about the inspiration behind his new single produced by Cymplex which he dropped yesterday together with a video.
Although his father passed away three years ago, the Ndinonyara hitmaker is still feeling the pain of losing his patriarch.
“Losing a loved one is something that pains almost everyone. I lost my father in 2018 and the pain is just too much.
“Mapapiro is a special dedication to my father and to all those who lost their parents.
“I understand the pain and I know the wounds will never heal. We only find comfort in Jesus,” Nox told the Daily News.
Nox, who is known as the Zaka Prince in showbiz circles, believes many people will gravitate towards Mapapiro as the song has the ability to comfort those in grief especially in these trying times of Covid-19.
Although he wrote the song in the memory of his late father, Nox is excited with the early reception Mapapiro is receiving.
The video which features the likes of socialite Zuva Habane, Jay Bling, Boss Chiwoz and directed by San Pedro has already amassed 26 000 views on YouTube since its release.
“I understand the video is so emotional, it was a way of expressing what some of us go through in our lives,” Nox added.
The song comes hot on the heels of Nox’s recent duet with Sandra Ndebele on the track Touch Me Not which was released a day earlier.
“Working with Sandra was a refreshing moment, I really enjoyed it,” the singer said.
Nox is currently enjoying a purple patch in his career after some of his recent collaborations with some of South Africa’s biggest music stars including Master KG and DJ Tira.
