Kudakwashe Mapinganjira, 20, was charged with murder and advised to apply for bail at the High Court because he committed a third schedule offence.

They allegedly hatched a plan to rob the now deceased who was walking alone in Overspill, Epworth.
Mapinganjira pounced on the now deceased person and hit him with a brick on the forehead.
He sustained a deep and died on the spot before Mapinganjira and his gang stole his phone, identification particulars, shoes and belt.
The body was discovered by passers-by later that morning who alerted the police.
On January 5, Epworth police were tipped that Mapinganjira was responsible for the act and arrested him.
When he was interrogated, Mapinganjira implicated Forbes and Prosper and confessed that he had received the now deceased’s phone when they shared the loot.
He also told the police that he had sold it to Sean Kalawangona and it was recovered and identified by the now deceased’s relatives.
On January 6, 2020 Mapinganjira made indications of how the offence had been committed at the crime scene.
