© A PENHALONGA woman has been arrested on attempted murder charges after she stabbed her husband’s teen lover after finding her in her matrimonial bed.
Fortunate Kakunguwo, 26, found Alice Mahuku, 18, lying in her bed at Redwing Mine around 1000 hours on January 5 after returning home unannounced after the holidays. Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the incident.
Mahuku, who is currently battling for life at Mutare Provincial Hospital with deep stab wounds on the chest and right hand, was brought home by Prime Yolamu, 30, Kakunguwo’s husband, after his wife had gone to her rural home in Mrewa before the festive season holidays.
Kakunguwo arrived back home from the holiday to find her husband outside and his young lover in bed in their bedroom, leading to their violent confrontation.
She then grabbed a kitchen knife which was in the room and stabbed Mahuku on the chest near her breast and on the right hand before leaving her lying in a pool of blood to inform her sister, Gladys.
She was rushed to the hospital by Gladys, who summoned an ambulance immediately after she was informed of the incident.
