MDC Alliance vice president Tendai Biti, pictured, yesterday said their party continues to back tomorrow’s protest against corruption despite spirited efforts to stop it.
“It’s Zanu PF itself which is a terrorist organisation which abducts people, where is (MDC Alliance officials) Job Sikhala, Makomborero Haruzivishe and Gift Siziba; they are all in hiding, haunted by a predator…“We support the right of citizens who have organised the 31 July; we support their constitutional right to embark in a peaceful and constitutional protest against the regime as codified in Section 59 of the Constitution.“We reject the fascist response by the regime, in particular the remarks by the deranged Chinamasa, who would have asked for dialogue with organisers of the events of 31 July,” Biti said.
“There are colleagues who have been abducted in Chiredzi and Bulawayo. We are concerned on the attack on the general membership of our movement and the general public.“We are concerned about the efforts to liquidate the MDC Alliance. We take great exception to the description of our alliance as a terrorist by a ramshackle individual who is not qualified to make that statement in the form of (Patrick) Chinamasa. We are a legitimate and constitutional organisation,” Biti said.
