Take me to church: Praise time on 3Ktv

By Symphaty Sibanda

GROWING UP, my siblings and I felt so holy whenever we came from our weekly church visit.

We no longer wanted to sin and to us that meant no arguments or squabbles.

For the few hours or so after church, our mother took a reprieve from shouting, “Imi anaMangwenya stop fighting!” Well, the holiness wouldn’t last forever but that’s a story for another day.

The power of inspired gospel music transforms even the hard-core criminals into being followers of the gospel.

Under 3Ktv programming is a show dedicated to instilling that holiness in us, not just for an hour but as a lifelong character transformation.

Even Mary Joyce Jonasi, the show editor who also happens to be the editor of my show, (Cousins) said Praise is her favourite show.

Imagine that! That means this show produced by soft spoken Melody Hamutyinei and presented by ever-smiling Yeukai Jiro really has something unique to offer.

“Editing ‘Praise’ brings me so much joy as a Christian believer because it gives me a sense of purpose as I will be using my talents to spread the word of God through music. This is arguably my best show,” Jonasi said.

Yeukai said she enjoys the top 20 countdown voted in by viewers.

“Being a presenter for the programme Praise comes as an absolute blessing.

‘‘It’s a wonderful experience to count down the gospel top 20 handpicked by the viewers whilst proclaiming the Lord’s goodness in the process,” she proclaimed.

Characterised by an interview with a gospel artist as well as the top 20 countdown, the show is meant to inspire and ignite a spirit to face the week with renewed hope.

Just to remind my siblings that we need to revive that childhood post church holiness, I force them to watch Praise every Sunday at 2000hrs from wherever they are. You too can join in the fun and tap into the anointing.
