FILMMAKER Willard Magombedze, also known as Slimaz in the arts and entertainment industry, has dropped a new series titled Rudo, which tackles women abuse.
The series airs every Tuesday at 1900hours on popular television station 3Ktv, which is accessed on DStv channel 293.
“Rudo is a story about a young girl Tineyi who was taken by the chief after her parents had passed on, she thought he was genuinely trying to look after her but later on realised that his intentions were to make her his wife,” Magombedze said.
“Tineyi later on met a new boy of her age, Clifford, who had been hired by the chief to work for him and the two— Tineyi and Clifford— fell in love. When the chief gets to know about the affair, he sends his nephew and one of the workers Tafadzwa to kill both of them but they manage to survive but one of them becomes crippled and this leads to a difficult time for them.”
Magombedze is hoping the series will go a long way in fighting gender based violence in society.
“My aim is to show people that there is still a group of people out there who are being abused, but not recognised, these people are suffering in silence,” Magombedze said.
Rudo features actors such as Abigail Mondo who played as Mai Tunga, Shadreck Masese who played as Mahwite and Tsitsi Zimondi— all in the drama Tunga.
