Sibanda set for debut solo exhibition

LIFESTYLE WRITER

EMERGING visual artist Salma Sibanda is set to stage his inaugural solo exhibition, “A Spectrum of Thoughts”, at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Harare, with dates to be announced.

The exhibition will present a curated body of digital paintings and pencil drawings that interrogate contemporary social issues, including mental health, child marriage and gender-based violence.

According to organisers, the show seeks to provoke public dialogue through layered narratives and diverse artistic perspectives.

Sibanda, whose practice spans fine art, digital painting and graphic design, has steadily built a profile both locally and beyond Zimbabwe’s borders.

His work has featured in collaborations with regional and international artists such as Zambia’s Roberto, as well as Zimbabwean musicians Freeman and Julian King, and has received recognition in several art competitions.

A Spectrum of Thoughts marks a significant milestone in Sibanda’s career, positioning him among a new generation of artists using visual art as a tool for social commentary.
