POPULAR Matabeleland North arts jamboree — The Shangano Arts Festival — is back after taking a two-year hiatus.
The event, which is now in its 17th year running, will resume in November in Hwange under the theme “Revived.”
“We are looking forward to a great festival this year. We have a great line up of artists from Matebeleland North, and we are expecting a lot of people to come out to support us.
“As an organisation for the Creative Arts in the Matabeleland North region, we are proud to emerge as a “revived” bulwark, a supercharged stallion unfettered from all the challenges or setbacks,” Petros Ndhlovu, the festival director, said.
The festival — a celebration of cultural diversity — will run from November 22 through to 27 at venues yet to be announced. According to Ndhlovu, the event will feature artists from different disciplines — music, dance, theatre, and visual arts performances from across the province.
“Artistic talent has been revived, support for the artists has been revived and artistic skills revived, hence this year’s festival is going to be a delightful celebration of such revived successes,” Ndhlovu said.
The festival is supported by Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust, Delegation of European Union in Zimbabwe, National Arts Council of Zimbabwe and Victoria Falls Boxing Academy among other partners.
