Selmor ready for album launch
SONGSTRESS Selmor Mtukudzi is happy that the concerts she held in conjunction with sungura music star Alick Macheso will pave way for her much-hyped album launch set for January 31.
During the festive season, Selmor held five performances with Macheso visiting areas such as Kadoma and Mutare a strategy which they believe helped expose her to show goers.
Music promoter Josh Hozheri who also handles her affairs said music is for the people hence the decision to expose the songstress to the market.
“It is a strategy we had to adopt; before the album launch she has to meet the people and with the five engagements we had with Macheso I believe it worked well. We appreciate what Macheso did and we believe it will go a long way in establishing the Selmor brand. Music is for the people and it has to be taken to them,” Hozheri told the Daily News.
Selmor described Macheso as a father figure who has been supportive throughout their touring journey.
Titled Dehwe Renzou the album is her first after the death of her father Oliver Mtukudzi. It will be launched at the Harare International Conference Centre and Macheso has been confirmed as one of the guest musicians.
The songstress has promised “good music” on the day.
“Macheso is like a father to me and he has been very supportive and I’m grateful for the opportunity he gave me. He would jump on stage and people loved it. The response has been wonderful, they loved the music,” she said.
