INFLUENTIAL preacher Miracle Paul has stepped in to support Chitungwiza-based women’s football side Chitungwiza Queens, sponsoring the club to the tune of US$3200 through his ministry, New Revelations Ministries.
The financial lifeline comes at a crucial time for the Division One outfit, which has been struggling to meet operational costs.
“We are grateful to the man of God, Prophet Miracle Paul, for making our dream a reality,” said co-founder Beautiful Kadurira.
“We formed the team to tackle social ills such as drug and substance abuse, as well as child marriages. We are now in Division One, but funding had become a major challenge until the New Revelations Ministries came to our rescue.”
Kadurira said the funds were used to purchase playing kits and to cover the club’s Division One registration fees, among other expenses.
“We have close to 40 players and are encouraged by the progress the project has made since its formation three years ago,” she said.
“We want to demonstrate that women are equally talented and physically capable of competing for the full 90 minutes, just like their male counterparts.”
The ministry’s administrator and spokesperson, Lovemore Muzavazi, said the church was committed to community development.
“The church exists to uplift society through community projects, including efforts to curb drug and substance abuse and to combat child marriages,” he said.
“The man of God believes sport can transform lives and has pledged to continue supporting the team until we begin exporting local talent to professional clubs abroad.”
Beyond the support extended to Chitungwiza Queens, Miracle Paul runs several humanitarian initiatives, including providing scholarships to thousands of marginalised learners from primary to tertiary level, supporting orphanages, and assisting vulnerable families with housing and transport across the country.
