Man up for upskirting woman in Zupco bus
A HARARE man who slid his cell phone into the skirt of a female passenger who was standing beside him in a packed Zupco bus — recording videos of her underwear — has been charged with indecent assault.
Lovemore Phiri, 32, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Rumbidzayi Mugwagwa and the matter was postponed to March 26 for trial.
The complainant is a 34-year-old woman employed at the University of Zimbabwe and is not related to Phiri.
The court heard on February 19 around 7am, Phiri and the woman boarded a bus that was heading to the Harare Central Business District.
It was alleged that the woman stood next to where Phiri was seated and along the way she felt her thighs being touched.
She checked and saw that Phiri had inserted his phone into her skirt and was recording videos.
When she confronted him about the issue, Phiri remained silent causing a scene on the bus as he was being forced to open his phone.
The court heard when she opened the phone, Phiri had videos showing the lady’s undergarments and she proceeded to file a police report.
Phiri was arrested and his phone has been held as an exhibit and will be used as evidence during trial.
