Key tax meet on tomorrow

FINANCE minister Mthuli Ncube will headline tomorrow morning’s top-of-the-line tax review breakfast meeting in Harare.
Hosted annually by The Financial Gazette — the country’s number one business publication and prime voice for industry and commerce — this year’s must-attend gathering comes as tax compliance in Zimbabwe has evolved into a strategic and collaborative tool for national development.
In this regard, hundreds of corporate leaders, economic experts, academics and senior government officials will be examining how fiscal frameworks can better support productivity and competitiveness.

“It’s all systems go for the well-subscribed breakfast meeting. Our partners and speakers are confirmed, and we are confident of delivering a rich and impactful engagement.

“This year’s gathering is designed to move beyond theory and give practical, policy-relevant insights that businesses can immediately apply,” The Financial Gazette’s general manager for sales and marketing, Shingirai Chirikuutsi, said yesterday.

The meeting is being held under the theme “Tax Compliance as a Catalyst: Fuelling Inclusive Growth”.

It comes at a critical moment as firms adjust to new tax regulations against a backdrop of sustained economic pressures.

Ncube is expected to deliver a keynote address that will focus on revenue mobilisation, fiscal discipline and policy consistency.

His address is also anticipated to guide how the government intends to balance growth stimulation with prudent public finance management, particularly as Zimbabwe pushes towards long-term economic transformation.

Among the other speakers scheduled to address the breakfast meeting are Axis Solutions managing director, Burayayi Mukudzavhu; and CBZ Bank head of tax, Robbie Maremero.

Specialist analysis will also come from Baker Tilly Tax Partner, Simbarashe Hamudi, and Pan African Federation of Accountants’ Owen Mavengere.

Governance and development perspectives will be provided by Chartered Governance and Accounting Institute’s Jonathan Dube, Tapiwa Nyagumbo of SMEDCO, and INSAF chief executive Rodney Ndamba.
