THE outgoing  Zimbabwe Immigration Department Regional Immigration Officer (RIO) Silibaziso Ngwenya is allegedly refusing to vacate her office at the headquarters  after she was transferred to a supposedly lesser fashionable  E-visa department.

Nwenya was transferred along with other senior managers two months ago but has been adamant to leave her office, citing that her new office is still undergoing renovations.

This is largely allegedly influenced by  financial benefits she gets via corrupt issuance of  resident permits and Temporary Employment Permits ( TEPs).

Our source allege that Ngwenya is working in cahoots with some Chinese nationals and has a list of preferred companies they cherry-pick.

“Her sister who is not employed by Immigration, works as her  agent and link to Chinese investors and they irregularly issue TEPs,” revealed our source.

It is believed that part of the proceeds from the alleged illicit deals are funding the construction of her plush Borrowdale house , images of which are in our possession.

 “She is actually building a mansion in Borrowdale and if you were to carry out a lifestyle audit it would not tally.

“Of course her husband Busani gets a substantial amount of income but their combined income cannot justify their lifestyle,” revealed another source close to the family.

Nwenya is alleged to have created a cartel with her loyalists  with individuals only identified as Taruvinga, Gasva and Shamu among others in her now former department.

When contacted for comment, Ngwenya could neither confirm nor deny the allegations, she became evasive.

She did not respond to message send to her and when she picked the call she mumbled and could not categorically state her position before disconnecting the phone.

Relentless efforts to make  follow up calls were fruitless as the calls went unanswered.

Efforts to contact the Immigration department’s communications personnel also hit a snag as the numbers provided  were not reachable.
