Health ministry appoints acting perm sec
THE Health and Child Care ministry has appointed the chief director of preventive services Gibson Mhlanga as its acting permanent secretary.
In a statement, the ministry’s human resources director Jane Mudyara said his appointment will remain in force until a substantive permanent secretary is in post.
“In light of the recent re-assignment of Agnes Mahomva … the Public Service Commission appointed Gibson Mhlanga as the acting secretary in the ministry of Health and Child Care,” Mudyara said.
Mhlanga’s appointment comes shortly after President Emmerson Mnangagwa re-assigned Mahomva to a post created for the government to have a coordinated approach in the fight against coronavirus.
“This post has been created after due consideration of the work of the Ad-hoc inter-ministerial task force on Covid-19 which has indicated the need for an evidence-based and coordinated division of labour between and among government agencies and other significant entities as the country acts to prevent, manage and contain cases of the infection and illness in her role as permanent secretary,” chief secretary to the President and Cabinet Misheck Sibanda said.
