A FITNESS trainer who stole US$5 000 from a member’s parked vehicle at Pro Fitness Gym in Borrowdale, Harare, has pleaded guilty to theft.

Tinashe Gandari admitted to the charge when he appeared in court yesterday and is expected to be sentenced today.
Prosecutor Takudzwa Mutyavaviri proved that on October 14, 2025, at around 12pm, the complainant, Allen Badzarigere, parked his Mercedes-Benz GLE at the Pro Fitness car park at Sam Levy’s Village in Borrowdale.
Badzarigere left US$5 000 cash inside the glove compartment before locking the vehicle and heading inside the gym to exercise.
He placed his motor vehicle keys inside his gym satchel before commencing his workout session.
“While the complainant was doing his workouts, Gandari took the car keys from the satchel, proceeded to the car park, unlocked the vehicle, and stole US$5 000 from the glove compartment.
“When the complainant finished his workouts, he returned to his vehicle and discovered that the US$5 000 stored in the glove compartment was missing.
“The complainant lodged a formal police report, which led to the arrest of the accused person,” the prosecution proved.
Out of the total US$5 000 stolen from the vehicle, police managed to recover US$1 000.
