EcoCash – the country’s leading financial technology company – scooped three gold medals at the 2026 SMEs International Expo, earning well-deserved recognition for its active and ongoing support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and its high quality corporate exhibition at the event.
The fintech giant received gold medals in the Business Partner, Outstanding Exhibition (Corporates) and “Working Together” categories at the 16th edition of the expo held in Harare.
The multiple awards recognised EcoCash’s leadership through engagement with entrepreneurs and its exhibition of reliable and innovative digital financial solutions designed to help small businesses receive payments, pay suppliers and manage their daily operations with ease and simplicity.
At the centre of its award-winning exhibition was the EcoCash Plus Business Wallet, which brings customer payments, business expenses and additional earning opportunities together, on one platform.
An EcoCash spokesperson said the awards reflected the company’s commitment to working with SMEs and entrepreneurs and developing financial tools suited to their needs.
“We are honoured to receive these award, which we dedicate to our customers and business partners. For us, these awards go beyond recognition; they affirm our commitment to walking alongside Zimbabwean SMEs and entrepreneurs, and providing them practical digital financial solutions along their journey, with the goal of making it convenient for them to transact and manage their businesses with ease,” the spokesperson said.
“SMEs are a critical part of Zimbabwe’s economic landscape, and their success depends, in large part, on having access to simple, convenient, quick and affordable financial tools at their disposal. Through solutions such as EcoCash Plus, we want to assure them of our commitment to continuing to help them transact efficiently as they take advantage of opportunities out there to grow their businesses,” said the spokesman.
The awards come against the background of EcoCash’s broader, successful drive to strengthen its support for SMEs across the tourism, hospitality, retail, transport, agriculture and service sectors in the economy.
The company also recently showcased EcoCash Plus at the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo in Masvingo in September, which attracted close to 400 exhibitors. Its participation provided yet another opportunity to showcase the wallet and engage SMEs on their specific payment requirements.
Designed for SMEs, micro-enterprises, informal traders and service providers, EcoCash Plus supports transactions between customers and businesses, businesses and individuals, and businesses and their suppliers.
SMEs and entrepreneurs can receive customer payments directly into the wallet and provide digital change, helping customers pay the exact amount for goods and services. They can also make payments to individuals, pay suppliers, settle electricity bills and council rates, pay for insurance and transfer funds to bank accounts.
The wallet offers zero monthly charges, no hidden fees and instant liquidation, giving SMEs flexibility in accessing and managing their money. They can also earn commissions through airtime and ZESA sales.
Each transaction generates a digital record, helping owners track money coming in and going out, reconcile their accounts and maintain visibility of business activity.
A retailer, for example, can receive customer payments, pay a wholesaler for stock, settle utilities and earn additional income through airtime sales using the same wallet. Transport operators, artisans, restaurants, tuckshops and market traders can similarly manage routine payments digitally.
EcoCash Plus is accessible through established channels, including USSD and point-of-sale platforms. The company expects the EcoCash Super App to further enhance the service by bringing business transactions and an expanding range of services onto an integrated platform.
SMEs can apply for the wallet through the EcoCash WhatsApp Chatbot on 0777 222 152, with applications processed within 24 hours.
EcoCash said it would continue engaging SMEs and entrepreneurs with a view to expand access to solutions and services that support their operations.
