A GOKWE man is on the run after killing another man who had intervened to stop him from assaulting a man he was accusing of dating his girlfriend.
Police said investigations had begun into the case, including finding the suspect. In a statement, the police said Douglas Dube, 34, died after he was allegedly hit with a knobkerrie all over the body by Descent Gumbi, 22, near Makwakwa Business Centre on December 27 last year.
“The victim had intervened to stop the suspect … Gumbi from assaulting Trust Manyemwe who was being accused of dating the suspect’s girlfriend,” said the police.
“The victim succumbed to the injuries sustained in the attack. The suspect is now on the run, and police are appealing to anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to report to any nearest police station.” — New Ziana
