DARE Remachinda, one of Zimbabwe’s most influential men’s forums, on Sunday marked Father’s Day with a luncheon at Rainbow Towers in the capital as it continued advocating for responsible fatherhood and positive male role models.
Over two hundred men converged at the hotel where various influential speakers including Arthur Marara, Professor Blessing Nyahuma, Marshal Machando, Misheck Ruwende, Brian Chatindo and Sam Marufu took turns engaging men in different subjects. The event also accommodated the youth, a new thrust the show is taking.
Dare Remachinda media director Frank Mrewa said the event was a response to the growing call for responsible manhood, mental health awareness, family accountability, financial and legal literacy.
“Instead of only repairing men we are now shaping the young men graduating from boyhood to manhood. We continue to create safe spaces for men where they engage and share ideas.
“There are several issues affecting men and some are dying in silence and our thrust is to encourage them to speak out and get help.
“ There are a number of issues affecting society such as drugs, suicide and crime and all affecting men and we are there to give hope and practical solutions. “ This Sunday we had a rich panel which helped a lot of men with ideas to solve issues affecting their lives, he said.
Mrewa told the Daily News that this year their target is to reach out to as many provinces as they can and including the diaspora.
“Thanks to the guidance of our leader Obey Chimuka, we have been to South Africa, Hwange, Mutare and now our focus is on Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, Masvingo and the United Kingdom. We are taking this gospel of responsible and accountable manhood to all places. “The diaspora is also included because they have their own issues affecting them and they need this safe space to relieve themselves,” he said.
Dare Remachinda’s following is growing by the day with close to a million followers on various social media players. Several women are now calling for accommodation on the show which the male followers are challenging.
“As the name Dare Remachinda suggests, this is a safe space for men and it is our responsibility to ensure that their issues get maximum attention.
“We appreciate the support we get from women and they have been sending messages on how the program is helping the men in their lives.
“Some are single mothers and they are appreciative of the nuggets coming out of the show in shaping their sons and the next generation of responsible men. The group also made a guest appearance at the Father’s Day Bonfire Experience at Baradzanwa Cultural Village in Mazowe where they shared the stage with high riding singer Jah Prayzah.
