Bev ties the knot

POPULAR dancer Beverly “Bev” Sibanda yesterday wedded her United Kingdom-based lover, Chambuka Mufudzi, at a ceremony at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts. The wedding follows a traditional marriage ceremony at Bev’s family home a few weeks ago, a source said. Despite the wedding, insiders said Bev will not abandon the dance fl oor as the husband is comfortable with her pursuing her dancing career. “Everything went according to plan, following all the cultural procedures. Lobola was paid a few weeks ago,” the source said. Her long-standing manager, Hapaguti “Hapaz” Mapimhidze, was among the witnesses to the wedding. He said this serves as a lesson to all that dancers are human after
all despite the negative perceptions about their profession. “People are usually negative about dancers and this serves as an example that dancers are capable of settling down and having families. All we get is negative publicity. In as far as their plans are concerned, it is subject to their family discussions. I’m happy for them and wish them well,” he said. Sources told the Daily News that the relationship has been going on for some time and Mufudzi has plans of settling and buying a residential stand for his wife. Contacted for comment after the wedding, Bev said she in meetings. Bev has had her fair share of controversy in her life and dancing career but has strived to lead a decent life.
