ARTISANA Gallery Café based at the National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe will for the first time today between 5 and 6pm host a Rush Hour Jam Session.
Talented saxophonist and Jazz Musician Rangarirai ‘‘Pash’’ Pashapa will be performing at the first edition with his Soultrain band.
Artisana Gallery Café Owner Farai Mubi Schmidt said: “Unless we have Friday evening events, we are usually only open until 5pm, but customers told us they would love to enjoy an after work drink here since it is a very unique location in the city, with an intimate and relaxed setting full of creative vibes and a tranquil view of the sculpture garden combined with good healthy food, quality beverages and attentive service thus we are starting this event.”
Schmidt told the Daily News that since they are located at a place that is all about the arts, they thought it would be a very good thing to get young talented artists on board to jam at Artisana during and after the happy hour.
“For the first edition, we talked to Pash (Rangarirai Pashapa), who is a very talented saxophonist and jazz musician with the band Soultrain and they will serenade us with some nice jazz music and good vibes,” she added.
Schmidt said everybody is invited and audiences can simply pay what they want to support the artiste performing on the day.
“Let’s see how it goes, for now we are planning to make it a monthly gig, which will involve Pash and other interested musicians and artists, but if there is enough interest and support, we might make it a weekly affair,” said Schmidt.
