3KTV drama Inkaba has secured three National Arts Merit Awards (Nama) nominations in the Film and Television Awards category.
Inkaba is a compelling drama that explores the intertwined lives of two families living in a vibrant yet challenging community.
The story delves into themes of love, betrayal, and resilience, as the characters navigate personal struggles and triumphs in a divided world.
The awards ceremony, scheduled for next month at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC), sees Inkaba nominated for Outstanding Actress (Chesesile Mpofu as Tabitha Dube), Outstanding Actor (John Mabuyane as Tembani Dube), and Outstanding Screen Production (Television).
Mabuyane — the writer, director, and executive producer of Inkaba — has described the triple nomination as welcome endorsement.
“Receiving these nominations is incredibly meaningful, not just to me, but to the entire Inkaba team. It reflects the hard work, dedication, and passion that we all poured into this project.
“Each nomination represents countless hours of collaboration, creativity, and commitment to storytelling,” said Mabuyane.
“It’s a recognition of our collective effort and the unique synergy we created as a team. I couldn’t be prouder to be part of such a talented group of individuals. This acknowledgment fuels our motivation to continue pushing boundaries and telling powerful stories that resonate with audiences.”
He hailed leading private television station, 3Ktv, which is also available on DStv channel 293, for showcasing Inkaba.
“My relationship with 3Ktv has been one of collaboration and respect. Over the years, they have provided a platform that champions innovative stories and bold storytelling. The support they offer to artists and creators is invaluable, allowing us to share our visions with a broad audience.
“It’s been a wonderful journey working with such a committed team, and their belief in my craft has always inspired me to push my limits.
“The synergy we’ve cultivated over the years has laid the groundwork for many successful projects, including this one. Above all, I would like to thank Lucia for her support, encouragement, and enthusiasm towards my projects,” Mabuyane added.
