Zanu PF politburo member Sikhosana dies
ZANU PF politburo member and former secretary for youth affairs in the ruling party, Absolom Sikhosana, pictured, has died.
Sikhosana died at a Bulawayo hospital on Friday night, Zanu PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu confirmed yesterday.
He was 71.
“We have just received the news and we are deeply saddened by the passing of Sikhosana. We are consulting as a party and we will furnish you with all the details by the end of the day,” Mpofu confirmed to the Daily News on Sunday yesterday.
His party members spoke highly of him.
“From the days I became effectively involved in politics, that was around 2002 (at a tender age of 16) I knew that the youth league chaperone was Sikhosana, the headmaster. I interacted with him as a youth leader at the district level and also as a student leader. The man welcomed everyone regardless of rank. A few weeks before his untimely death, he applauded the league for embarking on a programme to donate sanitisers. Sikhosana was for a long time a chaperone of the youth league. His imprint on the youth league is immeasurable and unforgettable. Farewell son of the soil,” acting Zanu PF youth affairs secretary Tendai Chirau said.
Former Zanu PF youth league secretary Lewis Matutu described the fallen politician as accommodative. — VAsco Chaya
