Water tanks for isolation centres

THE Urban Councils Association of Zimbabwe (Ucaz) in partnership with GIZ, an arm of the German government, has donated 43 water tanks with a capacity of 5000 litres each to 24 isolation centres in 17 local authorities.

This comes after the GIZ and Ucaz signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2017 under which GIZ will provide technical support to both the Ucaz secretariat and member local authorities.

“The tanks will be installed at 24 isolation centres in urban local authorities and will go a long way towards providing water at the isolation centres for 24 hours.

“We appreciate the kind gesture by our partners GIZ, which enhances our members’ capacity in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Ucaz secretary-general Livison Mutekede.

According to Ucaz, GIZ has also provided support for capacity building of councillors in addition to technical and financial support to urban councils on various projects for over the past two decades.
