Tsvangirai back in court

HARARE – Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai today locks horns yet again with estranged “wife” Locardia Karimatsenga, who is demanding a whopping $15 000 in maintenance at the civil courts.

The PM, whom the courts say is customarily married to the 38-year-old businesswoman, is contesting the case.

He married another woman Elizabeth Macheka last week.

However, Karimatsenga claims to be the premier’s senior wife and wants him to pay for her living expenses, which she has calculated at $15 000 monthly.

In her court papers, Karimatsenga claims she looks up to Tsvangirai as her husband and therefore the need for maintenance.

Karimatsenga claims she is used to a high standard of living, which she was introduced to by the MDC leader.

“The respondent (Tsvangirai) is in a position to pay maintenance for my upkeep in the sum of $15 000 per month. The respondent is the Prime Minister of Zimbabwe and is handsomely paid. He also has means of the income,” she states in court papers.

Tsvangirai terminated his “marriage” to Karimatsenga 12 days after paying “lobola”.

He denied the cash was for lobola, insisting it was compensation for impregnating Lorcadia.

Everson Samukange of Venturas and Samukange is representing Karimatsenga.

Tsvangirai’s lawyer Innocent Chagonda said the PM will oppose Karimatsenga’s bid for maintenance.
