Survey on state of the economy out next week

AFRICA Economic Development Strategies (AEDS), along with the Associated Newspapers of Zimbabwe (Private) Limited (ANZ) — publishers of the iconic Daily News and the Daily News on Sunday — will mid next week release the much awaited State of the Economy Report, which will give an independent assessment of the
country’s economic health.
Coming a few weeks before the unveiling of the 2021 National Budget, the survey is expected to feed into the national budget-making process already underway.
A spokesperson for the ANZ told the Daily News yesterday that the State of the Economy Report provides useful information for decision-makers and policy-makers, hence its growing popularity.
“Due to the incredible expertise that goes into its preparation, the State of the Economy Report is a useful source of reference one cannot afford not to have,” said the ANZ spokesperson.
“In line with the coronavirus (Covid-19) protocols, the event will be conducted via Zoom and can be accessed through all our social media platforms, mainly on Facebook.”
The event, which will start at 8am on Wednesday, will run for about two hours. Renowned economist and
executive director of AEDS, Professor Gift Mugano, will present the report.
ANZ has assembled a high profile cast of panellists to interrogate the report, among them the chief executive officer of Zimbabwe Women’s Microfance Bank, Mandas Marikanda; the founder and director of Empowered Woman Excel, Edna Mukurazhizha; Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries president Henry Ruzvidzo; Zimbabwe
National Chamber of Commerce president Tawanda Mazungu and the founder and executive officer
of SME Association of Zimbabwe Farai Mutambanengwe. Prominent Harare lawyer Nqobille Munzara will be the
