Supplementary budget for solar project
HARARE is seeking approval of a $5 million supplementary budget for the installation of solar systems at its district offices.
Council spokesperson Michael Chideme said last Friday at a revenue generating meeting that council decided to install solar panels at the offices to enhance revenue generation and collection.
He said the move comes after district offices had complained they sometimes go for hours without power owing to load shedding and lack of fuel for generators.
Chideme said the panels would be placed at 18 district offices in high density suburbs and nine low density suburbs.
Economists have argued that supplementary budgets were reflective of a disaster and a sign of the unsustainable monetary regime that is in the country.
