Spirit Praise hosts street worship concert
RENOWNED choral group Spirit Praise will hold a street worship concert in their quest to change the gospel music scene.
The showcase will be staged along Innez Terrace at the former Ximex Mall in Harare on April 25 and the event is set to close the street for worship purposes.
Organisers told the Daily News that the event will also serve as the group’s DVD recording dubbed Worship Moments 4.
“This is something new in the gospel music industry and choral groups’ scene and we believe we will reach our goal. We are aiming to close the street on the day and have people worship there,” Learnmore Tavengwa, the group’s leader said.
Spirit Praise is an interdenominational choir with over 40 members from different churches and is known for the popular One Voice Concerts.
Formed in 2013, the Spirit Praise choir has two albums Yatokwana Nguva and Vatatu Mumwechete and DVDs Worship Moments Series 1, 2 and 3.
The choir is in the process of promoting choral music in the country through monthly events dubbed Worship Nights.
Last year, they brought foreign singers among them Martin PK from South Africa who came for the One Voice Concert which ran for two days in the Harare Gardens and saw entertainers such as Takesure Zama Ncube participating.
They also brought Osinachi from Nigeria for another concert.
Tavengwa said they will open the day to exhibitors with various wares to showcase their products to the people. He said the event is open to everyone with a desire of worship through music and dance.
“We invite people from all denominations to come in their numbers. This is more than a concert but an opportunity to praise and worship through music and dance,” the organisers said.
