Seven up for drug dealing

THREE men in Harare’s Kambuzuma high density suburb have been arrested for dealing in dangerous drugs after they were found in possession of crystal meth and dagga.

This comes as the police have launched a blitz to flush out drug dealers, who have taken over most high density suburbs.

The three, Gift Nyamukumbu, Fransisco Musekiwa, Alfred Zinyuku, who appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, were arrested last Thursday after a tip-off.

According to court papers, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics received information that the three were dealing in dagga and crystal meth in Kambuzuma Section 5 and were using a black Honda Fit to transport the dangerous drugs.

The police visited the suburb, stopped and searched the car, which was being driven by Nyamukumbu.

During the search, the police reportedly discovered two big plastics which were under the driver’s seat containing crystal meth weighing 48 grammes, as well as three sachets of dagga weighing 78 grammes, leading to the trio’s arrest.

The State opposed the trio’s release on bail, with the police saying if freed, they could flee, as investigations are still ongoing.

They were remanded to today for bail application.

Meanwhile, Malvi Tombo, Tapiwa Muringai and Brian Katsande were arrested in Hatcliffe and found in possession of eight sachets of crystal meth and 14 sachets of dagga on Friday.

They appeared in court on saturday and were remanded in custody to today for bail application.

Another suspect, Lonely Mandunya appeared in court for alleged possession of crystal meth, a case of 10 roxithromycin tablets, 14 ciprofloxacin tablets, white powder in a container written oraquick and dagga.

He will also appear in court today for bail application.
