MPILO Central Hospital yesterday received a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE) from TelOne and NetOne under the two telecommunications companies’ $10 million Covid-19 response facility.

The donation to Mpilo, which followed similar ones to Sally Mugabe Hospital (formerly Harare Central Hospital) and Beatrice Infectious Hospital last week by the two companies included chemical overalls, cotton disposable overalls, N95 masks, dromex goggles, medium duty aprons, knapsack sprayers, hydrogen peroxide and alcohol-based sanitisers.

The two organisations said yesterday’s donation was in line with a long term plan to assist the hospital which serves the population of Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, Matabeleland North and South, Midlands and Masvingo Provinces.

“Over and above today’s PPE donation, and as part of our long term intervention, we are drilling and installing two additional boreholes here at Mpilo and have adopted a ward for refurbishment which we shall fully equip over the next few weeks, and will unveil the same once complete,” said the two telecommunications entities in a joint statement.
