Mega Market loses US$21 000 goods

TWO men allegedly hatched a plan to steal goods worth US$21 750 from Mega Market Mutare after they had been contracted by the company to transport the merchandise to Harare.

Allen Munjoma, 40, and his co accused, who is still at large,   reportedly approached Ernest All Way Global, a company  sub-contracted by Mega Market Mutare, looking for a transporting contract.

The duo, according to the State, were then awarded a contract to transport 30 000 kilogrammes of parboiled rice from Mutare to Brainscope company in Harare.

Munjoma and his accomplice reportedly connived to divert the load destined for Brainscope to a warehouse in Ruwa where they offloaded the stock.

The accused persons then allegedly sold the rice and kept the money for their personal use. None of the stock stolen was ever recovered.

The accused, who are facing theft charges, will appear in court again on January 31 next year.
