Man murders brother over Liverpool & Manchester City match

Pauline Maganga was found guilty of contravening the Trafficking in Persons Act.

A MAN in the Midlands province allegedly stoned his brother to death over the Liverpool-Manchester City football match at the weekend, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

An ardent Manchester City fan, Peter Mhike allegedly killed his brother Edmore after he tried to restrain him from stoning a Liverpool fan over the match.

Midlands provincial police spokesman, Emmanuel Mahoko said Peter picked up an argument with Joakim Moyo, a Liverpool fan, over which team was playing better, and this escalated into a fight in which the former used stones and other weapons.

The trio were watching the match live at a local business centre in Zhombe, Midlands province. Sensing danger, Edmore tried to restrain Peter, but the younger brother instead turned on him, hitting him with a wooden bench, and fatally with a stone.

“Peter turned against his brother and attacked him with a wooden bench. Edmore fell down and Peter picked a stone and struck him on the head and he died instantly,” Mahoko said. Peter fled the scene after the alleged murder, and police said he was still on the run. —New Ziana
