THE rape trial of Orchestra Mberikwazvo lead dancer Selemani “Majuice” Mpochi, pictured,  which was supposed to commence on Tuesday has been postponed until December 6 as his lawyers were unprepared.

Majuice, who is currently on bail, appeared before Harare magistrate Ignitio Mhene expecting the commencement of his trial, but he was further remanded out of custody to allow the defence team to further look at the State papers.

The Mberikwazvo dancer was arrested after he was accused of raping his 17-year-old girlfriend sometime in August this year.

Prosecutors allege that on the day in question, Majuice picked up the teenager at 6pm from a party she was attending.

He is accused of having gone onto force himself on the girl without her consent and in the process deflowered her as she had not engaged in sexual intercourse before.

Prosecutors allege that after raping the girl, Majuice began accusing her of lying that she was a virgin and that she had slept with other men before.

The teenager then confided the rape to a friend, who advised her to tell one of the support staff at their school.

The support staff member broke the news to the girl’s mother, who eventually reported the matter to the police, leading to Majuice’s arrest.
