ZIMDANCEHALL musician Jah Master was the biggest winner during the Zimbabwe Music Awards (Zima) held on Saturday night after walking away with three gongs.

The awards were held virtually for the first time in line with Covid-19 regulations which prohibit public gatherings.

Jah Master bagged the Best Zimdancehall, Best Male and Song of the Year gongs following a successful 2020 hit club banger Hello Mwari.

An elated Jah Master took to social media to thank his fans, organisers of the awards and his band for the support.

“Thank you Zima…we scooped the Best Zimdancehall, Best Male and Song of the Year last night.. Thank you for the support. Shout out to the next generation,” he said.

Gospel diva Janet Manyowa walked away with two awards after her project Sounds of Africa scooped the Album of the Year gong while also pocketing Female Musician of the Year gong as well.

Amapiano diva Sha Sha, who was nominated in four categories, walked away with only one award after she was named the Best International Zimbabwe Artist.

Poptain bagged the Best Collaboration gong with Allanah for their hit Fadza Mutengi.

Tahle WeDzinza won the Best Alternative gong for her project Rushesha and was very grateful to her team for all the effort they put in.

“Music for me is a life cause, it’s everything to me, spiritually, emotionally and physically. Music is more about the experiences of my people. It’s the gift God has given me to heal others even when I am broken, to uplift when I myself am low, to beautify even when I am far from perfect.

“My journey hasn’t come to its end, in fact it’s only beginning. My team and I have been at it for so long, working music that is true to us in the hopes that when we deliver — the people who listen to our work will feel blessed and uplifted by it.

“I am on my knees because this means more to me than you could ever imagine. Rushesha, though just an EP was such a hard project to complete, it brought me to tears so many times. Music can be such a hard space to navigate,” Tahle wrote on Instagram.
