Huawei Zim donates 30 000 COVID-19 face masks

Huawei Technologies Zimbabwe Private Limited yesterday donated 30 000 face masks through the Angel of Hope Foundation, in effort to help protect Zimbabwe’s front line health staff in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Huawei’s managing director Shao Jie presented the donation to First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa at state house yesterday.

“We are grateful for the donation you have given us, which will go towards the protection of our front line health staff as we fight COVID-19,” said Mnangagwa at state house.

Mnangagwa went on to state that the protective gear will be distributed to all Zimbabwe’s provinces to aid and protect health workers in their fight against COVID-19.

A 5G pioneer, Huawei has been supporting Zimbabwe for more than 20 years in information and communications technologies (ICT) and has now joined the critical fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mnangagwa also commended the support Huawei has shown towards Zimbabwe including their seeds of the future program that has sent Zimbabwean tertiary students on exchange programs to China for the past five years.

“We have to continue being together as one in these trying times and you have once again rekindled the long term friendship between China and Zimbabwe.

“We will make sure that the taskforce channels this donation across the country and ensure that all our frontline health staff are covered,” Mnangagwa said.
