BLUE chip company, Delta Corporation, yesterday donated $5 million to the government as the beverages firm joined other private companies who are fighting the novel coronavirus in the wake of a 21-day lockdown currently underway in the country.

The company presented their cheque to President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House where Croco Motors also donated an ambulance to fight the pandemic which has so far claimed one life and infected nine others in the country.

Delta Corporation donated $5 million and equipment worth $1 million towards frontline staff in the fight against Covid-19.

“Mobility and patient evacuation are critical in the overall fight against the pandemic and Zimbabwe has joined the rest of the world in lockdowns for world-wide effort,” said presidential spokesperson George Charamba commenting on the donations on his micro blogging site, Twitter.

Charamba added that Mnangagwa paid tribute to Zimbabwean companies and universities which have started producing needed equipment towards the fight against coronavirus.
