Churches to mark Mugodhi death
CHURCHES will early next month hold a memorial service to commemorate the life of Mugodhi Apostolic Faith Church leader Bishop Tefius Mugodhi who died end of last year.
Zimbabwe Amalgamated Churches Council (Zacc) patron Jimayi Muduvuri told the Daily News that his organisation has started preparing for the event.
“We are going to buy the tombstone and we are also going to provide all the food which is going to be eaten on the day. Mugodhi was a great leader and we want all churches to come to remember the life of Mugodhi. As you know, Mugodhi is a big church with branches across the country, so this is a big event,” Muduvuri said.
Mugodhi was the leader of the church from 2002. His father died in 1961 when he was young and could not lead the church. After the death of his father, the church had four leaders before him until the last leader, Mubvuwiwa, handed over the church leadership to Mugodhi in 2002.
However, last year, Tony Sigauke, started fighting him for the leadership of the church after the ailing leader revealed that he wanted his son, Washington, to take over from him and the case spilled into the courts. Muduvuri said his organisation will continue to support Mugodhi church.
