Church decentralises Easter celebrations
THE Zion Christian Church (ZCC) led by Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi has announced that it will be celebrating and commemorating Easter 2020 from decentralised locations across the world in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement, the church said the annual Easter celebrations will not be held at Mbungo as usual. Instead, all Easter liturgical and evangelical proceedings will be held at the lowest church structure level, but with strict observance of the gathering limit of not more than 100 people, as pronounced by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“I urge all ZCC members to practise social distancing as advised by the World Health Organisation and called for by the government of Zimbabwe through the ministry of Health and Child Care,” the church leader said in the statement.
“That He, God founded Zion for the safety of his people from where the deliverer will come, the deliverer none other than Jesus Christ as in Romans 11 vs 26.
“Zimbabwe, as a God-seeking, God-fearing nation and indeed the whole world, shall and can be safe from this,” said Mutendi.
