LEADER of Johane Masowe Chishanu Graspa Madzibaba Terbnage has urged people to put God first during the festive holidays.
He said a lot of lives have been lost in the past years mainly due to lack of self-control.
“I urge people to put God first during the festive holidays.
Its time to celebrate and enjoy with families not to misbehave or get carried away.
“Drivers should exercise maximum caution to curb unnecessary loss of lives,” he said.
Over the past few months, Madzibaba Terbnage, real name Onwell Vengesa, criss-crossed the country’s 10 provinces interceding.
“Recently, we were in Matebeleland North in Hwange, after Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, Midlands and other parts of the country praying for the country ahead of the festive season,” he said.
Madzibaba Terbnage, also founder and chairperson of Masowe For ED, took the opportunity to thank President Emmerson Mnangagwa for the freedom of worship.
“Zimbabwe is a free country; we successfully conducted our prayers in different places thanks to the leadership of our President Mnangagwa,” he said.
He also thanked law enforcement officers for working tirelessly to reduce road carnages and other miscellaneous offences during the festive seasons in the country.
His call comes as the country recorded a reduction in road accidents during the 2024-2025 festive season, according to the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
Between December 15 and January 15, 2 936 accidents were reported, down from 3 607 during the same period last year.
However, fatal accidents rose from 118 to 133. Despite the increase in fatal crashes, the number of deaths fell slightly to 155 from 162, while injuries increased to 938, up from 821 the previous festive season.
