THE United Kingdom-based musician Franc “Godfatherofslowjams” Mahanzu is putting final touches on his forthcoming R&B album, set for release next month. The project is a sequel to his debut album, Chronic Emotions.

“The album explores several themes, including love, faith, and forgiveness,” he said. Ahead of the album’s release, Mahanzu is set to unveil the visuals for his latest track, Mununuri Remix – a heartfelt song that seeks to share the love of God with listeners worldwide.

Mununuri Remix is a deep reflection on Jehovah’s sacrifice and redemption, brought to life through compelling visuals and the vibrant performances of Clef Jones, Beav City, and Kay Gee 40.

“This music video project is a stepping stone towards my forthcoming gospel album.” Mahanzu’s debut album, released last year, marked a bold fusion of R&B’s soulful melodies with the rhythmic energy of reggae.

Chronic Emotions represents a pioneering achievement in the genre – a deeply personal reflection on lived experiences, exploring the many dimensions of life. This 15-track collection, performed entirely in Shona, pushes the boundaries of traditional R&B,” he said.

The album features tracks such as Zarura Interlude, Zuva Rovira, Paya Paya, Ndoku-U, Gungano, Zvakanaka Zvikadii, Matipumha, WeDenga, Zemberera, Hadyana Interlude, Masai Sai, and Matendo. Reflecting on his approach to music, Mahanzu emphasised his dedication to creating meaningful and substantial compositions.

“My musical upbringing instilled in me a deep appreciation for traditional song formats. While contemporary artists often condense their creativity into two-minute tracks due to the competitive nature of music consumption, I remain committed to delivering rich and immersive musical experiences.”
