THE Zvishavane Hall of Fame, a new platform to recognise individuals who have shaped the Midlands mining town, will be officially launched on September 28.
Led by Gregory Mataka, the institution is expected to become the most prestigious recognition platform in Zvishavane, celebrating outstanding figures in medicine, business, mining, law, education and other fields.
“The selection process will be rigorous, with only those who have made significant and lasting contributions to the town set to be honoured. Inductees will be immortalised through statues, graduation gowns or blazers, ensuring their legacies endure for future generations,” said Mataka.
According to him, the Hall of Fame will also feature a museum, where inductees will receive certification and their stories preserved for posterity.
“Research conducted ahead of the launch has already highlighted the contributions of prominent figures such as Mai Ruswa, her daughter Rumbi, and Magoche, who made an impact in Mberengwa and beyond.
“The launch is expected to attract professors, government officials and dignitaries from across Zimbabwe, underscoring its significance as a milestone event for Zvishavane,” he said.
Mataka said the initiative would not only celebrate past and present legends but also inspire future generations by showcasing the town’s rich history and cultural heritage.
