‘Weight gain has not affected my work’

EXOTIC pole dancer Beverly “Bev” Sibanda, pictured, says she has not lost her touch or skills despite putting on a few kilos during lockdown.

In fact, Bev told the Daily News that her fans are gravitating towards her art more than before to an extent that she is receiving more bookings than before ever since the showbiz scene reopened.

“I am shocked that everywhere I go, I leave fans calling for more.

“Recently, I was in Bulawayo and up to now my phone is inundated with calls from promoters, who want a second dance,” Bev said.

“I have realised that it is not about the weight but the skill.”

During the lockdown, Bev also parted ways with her long-time manager Hapaguti “Harpers” Mapimhidze.

At the moment, Bev believes her Sexy Angels brand is now very strong that she can go it alone without a manager to handle her bookings and affairs.

“In showbiz, the main purpose of the manager is to look for promoters and shows but in my case it’s now different,” Bev said.

“For me, promoters are the ones knocking on my doors hence for the meantime I am managing well without the aid of a manager.”

The Sexy Angels boss told the Daily News that she is now enjoying the success of her brand.

“It is difficult to make a name for yourself in the dance industry because of stiff competition but once you manage to break the ceiling glass, things will become easier for you.

“What is needed is to make a name for yourself,” she said.

Apart from dancing, the multi-award-winning star is also a musician, who announced her arrival into the music industry with album Tapinda which featured South African musician Freddy Gwala on the song Tshaingoma and Congolese chanter Shiga Shiga.

The song Tshaingoma was voted among the best tracks in the 2013 radio charts.

Bev commenced her dancing career at Zoey Sifelani’s Red Angels before she moved to form her own Sexy Angels.
