SOUTH Africa’s Liquid Cloud and Cyber chief executive officer, Oswald Jumira, is set to be the keynote speaker at the prestigious Top Companies Survey 2025 in Harare this Friday.
First launched in 1980, the annual business event, courtesy of the Financial Gazette and financial services giant Old Mutual Zimbabwe, is a key fixture on Zimbabwe’s corporate calendar.
This year’s showcase would be held under the theme: “AI for Zimbabwe, Leapfrogging from a Resources Economy to A Services Economy”, underlining the catalytic power of AI in positioning Zimbabwe and Africa at large for monumental growth and global competitiveness in a highly integrated, fast-paced, complex, and boundless global economy.
Old Mutual Zimbabwe’s support underscores the survey’s significance to the economy, which is the country’s premier annual ranking of listed and unlisted companies, celebrating corporate performance, resilience, transparency, and excellence.
The Top Companies survey event uses the occasion to foster high-level insights on critical economic issues, with this year’s focus highlighting the urgent need for the local industry to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital services to compete globally and drive transformative national economic growth.
Jester Media Services Group (JMS), owners of the Financial Gazette, the country’s number one business publication and prime voice for industry and commerce, confirmed that the high-profile survey would be headlined by Jumira and attended by the “who’s who of business in the country”, including top corporate executives, policy makers, and investors.
JMS Group Chief Commercial Officer, Lewis Chikurunhe, yesterday emphasised the relevance of the theme.
“The time for digital transformation is now. Jumira is a respected figure in the African technology landscape.
As CEO of Liquid Cloud and Cyber, a division of Liquid Intelligent Technologies, he leads the charge in providing cutting-edge cloud computing, data, and security solutions across the continent.
His expertise lies in guiding African corporations through their digital transformation journeys, making him ideally positioned to discuss the role of Artificial Intelligence in Zimbabwe’s economic future.
Jumira has over 15 years of experience in technology and business development across a number of African markets. Previously, he was the chief executive officer of Vaya Technologies Limited, a Cassava Technologies.
He worked for a fintech startup in Nigeria and Kenya, providing digital financial services to SMEs.
Jumira was previously the Group Head of Innovation Partnerships for Liquid Intelligent Technologies. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Oswald led the team that developed the Africa Medical Supplies Platform, working with the Africa CDC and the AU. The platform delivered over US$2bn worth of medical supplies and vaccines across 54 African countries and 16 Caribbean countries.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town and is currently a Research Associate at Wits Business School.
