DYNAMOS coach Tonderai Ndiraya, pictured, believes he has assembled a “competitive squad” that will challenge for honours this season after a disappointing campaign last year.
The Glamour Boys, who finished a disappointing ninth in the 2019 Castle Lager Premiership, went on a shopping spree which saw them sign on a dozen new players.
DeMbare have already signed Partson Jaure, Byron Madzokere, Sylvester Appiah, Nkosi Mhlanga, Taimon Mvula, Tino Chiunye and Barnabas Mushunje.
The other new arrivals are Lennox Mutsetse, Tanaka Chidhobha, Juan Mutudza, Albert Eonde and David Temwanjira.
Yesterday, the Harare giants also solidified their relationship with main sponsor Golden Leaf Tobacco (GLT) by signing a distribution agreement.
GLT, through their brand Remington Gold, availed over 20 000 replica jerseys and other memorabilia like stickers and bracelets to the Glamour Boys which will now be on sale through their supporters’ groups to raise funds for the club.
“The honest truth from a technical point of view is that we don’t just talk; we prefer to talk after playing.
‘We will do the best we can, myself and the technical team to make the Dynamos squad a team that we all want.
“We have brought in some decent signings and it is my hope that we can train these boys and equip them with the necessary fitness for them to compete with other strong teams in the league. It’s not a secret that we were not good enough last season; I said it countless times.
“We didn’t have the quality that really represented a huge brand such as Dynamos Football Club, a huge brand like Remington Gold.
“These are two brands which needed some reinforcements and we did just that for the season ahead,” Ndiraya told the Daily News on the sidelines of the launch.
As the country’s most successful team with 21 titles, Ndiraya said DeMbare should be fighting for the league championship year-in-year-out.
“I think Dynamos should always be in the top four if you ask me and that gives you a great chance of fighting for the title.
“So, from the technical point of view, we are going to do the best we can to lift the brand and make sure the support we get from our partners will not go to waste.
“It therefore entails that we are in for an exciting season. I want to thank the Dynamos board and executive as well as all our sponsors for making it possible for us to get into the market.”
GLT country manager Stabiso Martin said RG and Dynamos are two big brands and they are seeing value in partnering the country’s biggest team.
“The recently signed sales relationship agreement is testimony of the constantly flourishing relationship we have established with Dynamos,” she said.
