YESTERDAY’s second edition of The Financial Gazette Business Executives’ Networking Golf Day tournament was a roaring success.

Held at the Chapman Golf Club in Harare, the tourney attracted scores of golf enthusiasts from the country’s corporate sector. After the similarly hugely successful inaugural edition last year, this year’s event attracted even more partners — including Econet, Delta Corporation, Zuva, Minute Maid, The Boma, Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, Montclair Hotel and Casino, West Properties Holdings, Glass Creations, The Best Travel Agency, Freightworld, First Capital Bank, Cresta Lodge, Tsapo Group, Speciss College, Schweppes, St Giles and Tee Time.

The General Manager for sales and marketing for The Financial Gazette, Shingirai Chirikuutsi, described the tournament as ‘‘another runaway success”.

“This event is now clearly an important fixture on the national corporate calendar. It fosters networking among pressured business executives, who through the event are able to meet and exchange notes about many things in a relaxed environment, while also engaging in much-needed physical exercise through playing golf,” he said.

A number of participants who spoke to the Daily News applauded the organ isers of the event saying more of such initiatives were needed as they helped to engender both camaraderie and net working for top executives.

“The tournament is very good for networking. It introduces us to new clients and also helps us to cement our existing relationships, while also bringing us closer to the media — which is a key constituency. “It also helps us to meet new sup pliers of goods and services.

So we are very happy to take part in such tournaments and we hope we can get more of these events,” West Properties communications manager, Michael Chideme, said. Constance Mangozho of The Best Travel Agency also felt that the event was a great opportunity to market participants’ businesses.

“It’s an amazing networking opportunity for us and as a brand we have not been that visible in the media. We think this is a perfect opportunity for us to market our brand as a travel agency.

“We have already managed to at tract new clients and networked with a lot of potential clients for us and we are very happy because of this opportunity,” Mangozho said. Freight World sales manager, Beauty Mukandi, said the golf outing was a chance for the company to increase its brand visibility.
