Call to Worship Global will mark its 18th anniversary with a worship night in Harare on October 3, bringing together gospel musicians, worship leaders and Christians from different denominations for an evening of worship and prayer in the capital’s Harare Gardens.
The anniversary will be held under the theme “Ishe Ngavavongwe (Be Exalted, O God)”, drawn from Psalm 108:5: “Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.”
Call to Worship Global was established in 2008 as Call to Worship Zimbabwe by Pastors Philip and Charlotte Pike, initially as an annual gathering aimed at spreading the gospel through praise and worship and bringing Christians from different churches together. By the following year, more than 20 churches were participating in its annual gatherings.
The initiative later expanded its reach and adopted the Call to Worship Global name, developing into a broader ministry that has sought to promote unity among Christians while providing platforms for worshippers and musicians. Its activities have included worship festivals, outreach programmes, training workshops and initiatives aimed at developing worship leaders.
For the organisers, the milestone marks 18 years of growth and what they describe as a journey sustained by faith.
“We know how it feels to travail by grace for 18 years, being carried by the King of Kings from a baby to a fully-fledged worship ministry,” said Pastor Philip Pike. “This journey has been nothing short of miraculous, and reaching this milestone is a testament to God’s faithfulness,”
The use of the Shona phrase “Ishe Ngavavongwe” is also intended to highlight Zimbabwean heritage and express the ministry’s message of thanksgiving in a local language.
After 18 years of challenges and achievements, the organisers said the theme reflected their desire to give God credit for sustaining the ministry.
Organizers have confirmed the night will feature gospel singer and worship leader Minister Blessing Jeduthun, Oncemore Six, the AFM of Zimbabwe Worship Team and the Call to Worship Global Choir, among others.
The 80-member Call to Worship choir is drawn from different Christian denominations and is part of efforts to promote unity among worshippers.
The organisers said the event would provide a platform for Christians to worship together across the body of Christ, with thousands of worshippers expected to participate in the event.
Rather than merely hosting a music concert, the organisers said the gathering would combine worship, prayer and reflection.
