HARARE – Renowned civil society leader, Rashid Mahiya was recently elected as the new chairperson of the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition (CiZC) at the just-ended Annual General Meeting held at the Bulawayo Rainbow in Bulawayo.
Mahiya, who is the current director of Heal Zimbabwe takes over from Sally Dura.
The new executive of CiZC, a coalition of more than 100 civil society organisations will serve a two-year term until 2019.
Meanwhile, Sakhile Sifelani, director of Women in Politics Support Network takes over from George Makoni as vice chairperson, Thabani Moyo, the director of Media Institute of Southern Africa takes over from Dumisani Nkomo of Habakkuk Trust as spokesperson while Evernice Munando, the founding director of Female Students Network Trust takes over from renowned lawyer Aleck Muchadehama as the coalition’s treasurer.
In his acceptance speech, Rashid indicated that his team “will talk less and listen more” to all stakeholders.
