Bosso thrash Triangle

CHIREDZI – Triangle were just pathetic on Thursday as they suffered their worst home defeat under coach Taurai Mangwiro following the humiliation by Highlanders in a Castle Lager Premiership match losing 1-3.

Bosso got their goals from Simon Munawa Ray Lunga and an own goal from Guthrie Zhokinyu while Lameck Nhamo scored the consolation for the home side.

With the win, Bosso remain in eighth place on the log with 40 points with six games to go before the season ends.

As for Triangle, the defeat means they are still in the relegation mix in 11th place with 36 points.

The Sugar Sugar Boys coach Taurai Mangwiro was lost for words as he described his side’s woeful performance.

"This is my worst game at Triangle and l am taking the blame but l want to assure the fans that we are going to avoid relegation and we are going to bounce back to winning ways in our next match,” Mangwiro said after the game.

Bosso coach Erol Akbay hopes the away win will give his side’s fans incentive to keep supporting the team in the remaining matches.

His side has been blowing hot and cold this season having beaten title aspirants Chicken Inn two weeks ago before being edged by current log leaders FC Platinum as home at the weekend.

“I’m the happiest man after winning 3-1 away from home and I’m urging our fans to come in their numbers in our homes games,” the Dutchman said.

The tie had threatened to be a big yawn with both teams lacking any hunger to control the game with the only meaningful opportunity inside the first 10 minutes being a corner that the hosts wasted.

Rahman Kutsanzira was to help Bosso emerge from their deep sleep with a spirited dominance of midfield operations.

Bosso first real chance came in the 27th minute when Ralph Matema’s free kick just missed the posts with Triangle goalkeeper Tapiwa Mulenga flat-footed.

Highlanders were however, rewarded for their pressure when Zhokinyu beat his own keeper to give relief to the visitors.

Ten minutes after the breather, Triangle also reaped the reward of pressuring their visitors with a Highlanders defender handling inside the box.

Nhamo stepped up and restored parity after sending Highlanders shot-stopper Nedrick Madeya the wrong way.

It was to be a woeful afternoon for Triangle’s defence as their failure to clear their lines gifted Munawa an opportunity to ram his side’s second following a 68th minute goal-mouth melee.

Second half substitute Lunga then put the nails on Triangle’s coffin with a stoppage time strike.
