IIZ golf day successful

HARARE – Ruvingo Themba from MBCA Team walked away with the top honours at the Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe (IIZ) annual corporate golf day held at Chapman Golf Club on Friday.

Second place during the individual stableford scoring event went to Francis Tamburayi from Sahwira Mukuru Team while third place was won by Clemence Nyachiya.

At least 120 golfers were part of the field that also included teams from Freight World Team, Auto Body, Smart Vest, SAUZ.

Speaking at a function to hand over prizes to the various winners IIZ president Edward Gomba praised the various sponsors who made the golf day possible.

“We want really to thank you for the support you have been and still giving to IIZ as an institute,” Gomba said.

“Your support has shown that you love your institute and your industry. You have done this under challenging circumstances in our economy. Your commitment to the institute makes us feel so humbled. May the good Lord bless you.

“The main purpose of this tournament is to raise funds for the institute and at the same time socialising as an industry and I think this objective has always been met. Once again let me say thank you so much.”

Some of the insurance companies, who bankrolled the tournament, include Grand Reinsurance and the platinum sponsors FBC Reinsurance, who have been sponsoring the tournament since its inception.

Other sponsors also include NicozDiamond Insurance, Colonnade Reinsurance, First Mutual Life, Nyaradzo Life, Marsh Insurance Brokers, Ruvimbo Funeral Assurance, Getsure Life and Moonlight Provident Associates.

Grand Reinsurance managing director Tatenda Katoma urged his fellow insurance practitioners to fully support the cause of the institute.

In his speech, he also thanked all the companies who had sponsored the tournament by providing teams.

Katoma also urged the insurance industry to work together by coming up with innovative ideas to boost the sector as the Insurance and Pensions Commission results released last week showed a depressed sector.
