HARARE – German-based Zimbabwean hip-hop pioneer Metaphysics will be at Pariah State in Avondale tonight.
Metaphysics will entertain club goers with rapper, actor, songwriter and music manager, Carlprit.
Born Herbert Schwamborn, Metaphysics is a Zimbabwean-born film and music producer.
He is most famous for being a member of the multi-platinum selling German band Söhne Mannheims (Sons of Mannheim).
He is also the founder of Gandanga Music Zimbabwe, a record label based in Zimbabwe and Germany.
Metaphysics began his career as a radio host on Radio 1 (now Sport FM) while he was still in high school. His radio show Young Zimbabwe targeted teen-related issues.
During his early years in radio, he began experimenting with music production and formed one of Zimbabwe’s first hip-hop groups “Lethal Language”.
The group was featured in the US-based magazine The Source.
In 1992, he formed the group A Peace Of Ebony which went on to break radio chart history in Zimbabwe with a song titled Pretend it Never Happened.
Carlprit has performed and written for acts such as Cascada, Alexandra Stan and Laurent Wolf.
He is best known for his song Fiesta as well as his appearance in Cascada’s 2009 hit single Evacuate the Dance floor.
The track sold over three million copies worldwide and reached top 20 on Billboard charts, making Carlprit the first Zimbabwean to have a song on the top US Billboard charts.
Meanwhile, Beverly “Bev” Sibanda is set to perform at Legends Bar in Marondera on Friday while Josphat Somanje will feature at the same venue on Saturday.
